Charles Kelly Barrow was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. His wife, Cassie, shares his passion in preserving Confederate heritage. They in turn share that with their children Georgianah and William. Kelly received his BS in Social Science and Military Science from Shorter College, his MA in Social Science and Education from Piedmont College, and his Ed.S in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. He was a Cadet in college and served in the United States Army. Kelly has authored, edited and researched many topics concerning Confederate Heritage, including Black Confederates, Black Southerners in Confederate Armies and Georgia’s Confederate Counties. For his endeavors, he was awarded the UDC Jefferson Davis Gold Medal. A 35+ year member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Kelly is the immediate past Commander-in-Chief of this international organization of men. Kelly is a member at Union Baptist Church in Griffin. Kelly is employed as an educator, teaching 10th grade World History. He has served in numerous facets, including girls’ varsity soccer coach and Department Chair, during his 20-year teaching career. Kelly’s passions are spending time with his family, travelling, research and of course history.
