John B Carroll III, a sixth generation native Georgian resides with his family in Americus Georgia. Born in Atlanta, John is the oldest child of Rev. John B Carroll, Jr. and Ann Woodruff Carroll of Macon, Georgia. John was educated in the Georgia public school system. He graduated from The University of Georgia in 1985 with a BS in Zoology and again in 1988 with a BS in Pharmacy. John is married to Elizabeth Morgan Carroll of Vienna, Georgia, and they have three children and a black lab Jake. Their oldest son, Beau, is a 2012 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY and currently serves with the 101st Airborne Combat Aviation Brigade. His son Andrew is a Senior at the University of Georgia, and his daughter Caroline is a Junior at the University of Georgia.
John is an active member of First United Methodist Church in Americus where he has served as a choir & orchestra member, Sunday School teacher, Board Vice-Chairman and Board Chairman. John also serves on the Board of Trustees for the historic Methodist Dooly Campground
John has served for many years as an adult volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, and is the proud father of two Eagle Scouts. John has served as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 21 for over 10 years. John acquired his scouting Wood Badge training in 2006 and has served on staff at other Wood Badge courses. Always ready for an adventure, John has coordinated Boy Scout high adventure trips from the North Georgia Mountains to the boundary waters of Canada to the mountains of Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico.
John joined the Sons of Confederate Veterans in 1991. He became Commander of the Alexander H. Stephens, Camp #78 in 1994 and served in that capacity for 12 consecutive years. Among many awards and accomplishments the Alexander H Stephens Camp won the National Distinguished Camp of the Year award in 1995. John is still very active with the SCV and the Camp in Americus continues to be one of the largest and most active in Georgia.
A state & nationally certified firefighter / EMT, John currently serves as Lieutenant of Volunteers with Sumter County Fire & Rescue.
John is a member of the Georgia Pharmacist Association, a Fellow in the American Society of Consultant Pharmacist. A Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, John currently is the Director of Pharmacy for South West Georgia Regional Medical Center in Cuthbert Georgia.
John enjoys hunting, fishing, canoeing, photography, reading, civil war history, and collecting civil war artifacts.
