This pavilion describes military events that occurred in the area on May 7-13, 1864, including Union Major General William T. Sherman’s feint attacks on Mill Creek Gap, Crow Valley, and Dug Gap Mountain; Union Major General James B. McPherson’s successful flanking movement to the southeast; and Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston’s retrograde movement from Dalton.
